This course is an introduction to the premier image editing program, Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and ImageReady 3.0. The book that we will be using will be Photoshop 7 for Windows & Macintosh. There will be take home test worth 40 % and in-class projects worth 60%.. Scantrons are not required. Floppy disks or  USB "flash cards" are required.

Welcome and introduction. Check out the resources available to you within this site.

Chapter 1 - The basics - the tools, the palettes, the menus and how to use them; Chapter 7 - Layers - introducing the power of layers;  Chapter 2 - Photoshop Color - color basics and "blending"; Chapter 5 - Selection - a few of things covered in this chapter concerning how to use some of the selection tools

Saturday Afternoon

Chapter 4 - Pixel Basics - working with pixels/images; Chapter 8 - History - how to use the History palette;  Chapter 6 - 127-129, Healing Brush and Patch Tool; 

A floppy disk or flash card is recommended for next Saturday's class.


Saturday morning - save all of your work to disk/flash card (recommended).

We will make a brief visit to ImageReady for a venture into slicing. Chapter 10 - Choose Colors; Chapter 12 - Paint; Chapter 17 - Type; Chapter 18 - Filters; Quick Masks - 281-282. For fun, we will play a bit with the Liquify tool.

Catch-up and Chapter 20 - Don't be late, automate... Then it is your time to shine - Project.

Graduation: Students planning to obtain a certificate or degree from St. Petersburg College are required to apply for graduation. This application must be filled out and turned in by the end of the first month of the student's last semester (e.g. If you plan on completing the certificate or degree by December, you must apply for graduation by the end of September).
