This course is an introduction to the skills and software required to create a basic website, including HTML,  The book for this class:  HTML for the World Wide Web. The software that we will use includes Frontpage 2003, Dreamweaver MX; Photoshop 7.0 & ImageReady 3.0 There will be one take home test  (40%) and one in-class project worth 60% of your grade.  Scantrons are not required. Floppy disks are recommended.

Chapter 1 -   Web Page Building Blocks; Chapter 2 - Working with Web Page Files, Chapter 3 - Basic HTML Structure; Chapter 4 - Basic HTML Formatting;
Chapter 6 - Using Images|

Saturday Afternoon

Chapter 7 - Links;  Chapter 13 - Lists; Chapter 14 - Tables

Photoshop - size and optimize images for first project.

Take home test  based on assigned chapters in the book and from the following three links and a "page" with several problems that needs your troubleshooting expertise.

Introduction to WYSIWYG editors - Frontpage & Dreamweaver and a bit more Photoshop and web graphics.

Saturday Afternoon

Project- 60 points: Three page website, built in tables - Home/index page with a Gif/JPEG Header; two optimized and sized images each of which are linked to a page with a larger image, which is linked back to the home page; a navigation bar with 5 buttons. The top (or left) button is the HOME button; the second button is linked to a second page which is linked back to the home page; the third button  goes to the third page; the fourth button to another web site; and the bottom button, an e-mail link. You will also create an intro paragraph to the page; and two additional paragraphs of text that relate to the images, one of which includes ordered or unordered bullets.
